I'm curious to know where everyone enjoys shooting! Do you prefer an indoor range for convenience, or do you like being outdoors? Share your favorite place and what makes it stand out!

I'm a Member at Northern Virginia Gun Club in King George. We have 4 pistol ranges 2 Rifle ranges. One range is open year round . The other is open for events only. 2 skeet fields 2 trap fields and sporting clays events. Right now we are not taking new membership applications.

I like both indoor and outdoor, depends on what I am shooting. I have a 100yd range on my property so that is my default right now. The closest thing to me outdoor-wise is the Airfield shooting Club off of Route 460 in Wakefield. I was a member there many moons ago, nice place. I have toyed with the idea of joining there again because it is only like 20 minutes from the house. An indoor range I shoot at is Freedom Shooting Center in VA Beach. It is also a nice place, good folks there too.

Rivanna Rifle & Pistol just south of the city of Charlottesville. (also has trap and skeet and wobble)
Indoor handgun range, five outdoor ranges starting from Bullseye, to reactive steel, to 300 yard rifle.
The second skeet range is being built right now.

Several public shooting events, including public trap and skeet on Sunday afternoons, steel target pistol matches one Saturday per month.

Very low cost to be a member. Worth every penny. Easy to get to from 64.

My favorite range is 30 yards from my front porch. 25 yards to 100 yards with a bench rest. I refuse to go to public ranges or public hunting areas unless it's dove hunting.

Indoor: Green Top Range, up near Bass Pro north of Richmond.

Outdoor: Hite Hollow Range, Augusta Co, out in the National Forest, off Route 42.
The place is wide open, do whatever you want, bring whatever you want, ain't nobody gonna care!
150 yard rifle range. 25 yard handgun range. Bring your own targets and/or whatever else! LOL...
Timewise, you'd just have to plan ahead, pack a small cooler, charge your cellphone, etc... because
you are totally on your own out there!

I live in Woodbridge, VA. The only 'indoor' range is in Lorton. It is rather small and limited. Would be nice if there were more indoor ranges, but that is unlikely -- due to the hostile anti-gun environment in Northern VA. Twenty years ago, there was a great indoor range in Woodbridge called "Sharpshooters" and in Chantilly, there was "Blue Ridge Arsenal". Sadly, they all closed up.
