The range rule I think is unnecessary

Some indoor ranges have arbitrary rules like 'one round per second maximum' even when you're the only person there and shooting safely. I get why they don't want mag dumps, but controlling cadence that strictly when I'm trying to practice split times feels excessive. Safety rules make sense, arbitrary rules that don't improve safety are just annoying...

I get why ranges do it but I agree it seems like overkill sometimes. If someone's shooting safely and in control, strict limits on how fast they shoot can stop them from practicing real-world speed.

It’s to protect the range itself.

Most people can’t hit the target with careful, slow, aimed fire.

Rapid fire, by most customers, sends the bullets all over the place, bouncing off the floors, walls, and ceiling.

Where I shoot, Freedom outdoors in Virginia Beach, if you’re shooting rapidly and they’re all going center mass, nobody says a word.
