Game Warden Encounters and Stories

I had a game warden check my license while I was out hunting. He was friendly but asked me a million questions. Anyone else had a chat like that?

I have been stopped and checked in the Aquia Creek while bass fishing several times. I always get the safety equipment check, since I'm in a bass boat. It really doesn't bother me other than having to stop fishing.

I have been checked almost every year on the Rappahannock River when fishing from the bank during the Shad Run. I really appreciate that since the appearance of the GW sends all the non-licensed fishermen scattering and I don't have to contend with people casting over my line or constantly getting hung up in the trees or crowding me because I am catching fish.

Yeah, they’ll chat you up like old friends while quietly checking everything. Friendly, but you definitely feel like you’re being audited.
