I grabbed my bow some days ago after not touching it since last season and I couldn't hit anything, this year I have resolved to practice a lot more.

I stopped taking super long breaks from archery after I learned muscle memory is a lie. I now shoot like 10–15 arrows a few nights a week all year. The practice doesn't have to be amazing, just consistent. My opening-day confidence shot way up once I started treating it like keeping up with the yard work instead of getting ready for the season.

That first session always feels a bit rough around the edges for me, it is like my muscle memory decided to sleep in but give it a few day and it all just starts clicking again, like no time has passed at all.

Rust shows up fast with bows, the good news is consistency comes back even faster with practice.

Speaking of bows.... Check out my (FREE!) compound bow, from an old USCG buddy!

Over this past weekend, I took a cruise on my Honda Shadow 750 motorcycle out to Goochland Co, along the James RIver at Maidens Landing (Route 522 & Route 6) and checked out Tucker Park. I heard about it, being across the road from the boat launch, canoe/kayak launch, etc...

Wow... What a place! It was getting busy with kids, parents, etc... with longbows, recurves, and a few older kids had compounds. I checked out the sign post at the entrance and it is 20 yards, 30, 40, 50, and out to 60 yards!
