I'm in the market for some reliable 9mm carry ammo and am feeling overwhelmed by the options. What hollow points do you guys trust for self-defense? I'd appreciate any personal insights!

The greatest wormhole/doom scroll you can get involved in for carrying ammo is the tnoutdoors9 YouTube channel. Hundreds of ammo reviews to include shots into gel. He slowed down a few years ago due to a health concern. He recovered and still does post content. Much less than he was doing.

Your mileage may vary, but Federal 147 HST is my Jim Jam.

I stick with 2 proven:

1) Federal HST 124gr
2) Speer Gold Dot 124gr +p (this was our issued duty ammo…and works😉)

I reload [Please no "the prosecutor will have a field day with you if you ever find yourself in court for defending you or your family" replies.] almost all of my ammo but since most of my carry guns like 124gr or 147gr rather than 115gr, I remember Federal HST 124gr and Hornady Critical Duty +P 124gr performing well. Each gun seems to have a favorite, though. The fun part is getting 4 - 5 boxes, a few watermelons or shaken up soda cans and finding out which is best for your handgun. Also, consider where you spend most of your time....city streets with a hundred people around or walking in the woods with your dogs? ie....edc for 2 legged critters or no legged critters.
What is your edc gun?

I usually have the old 147g Speer Gold Dot bullets in mine for home defense. I also like the Remington 124g defense ammo. I picked up a box of 148g hc from Underwood to carry when I am walking in the woods or squirrel hunting due to black bear populations increasing. For practice I order from Freedom and they do well out of my Springfield Armory SC.
