Hello, just purchased a S&W Model 327 / 357 Mag that I have not fired yet and not sure what this part is used for. The gun came with 3 flat black octagonal spacers that rest over the cylinder face. Are these to be used for 38 special ammo?
Any help would be appreciated.

Those octagonal spacers for your Model 327 are for moon clips. You use them to load and eject .357 Mag or .38 Special rounds much faster. They fit over the cylinder and hold the rounds tight. You'll need them for both calibers since the 327 doesn't have rim recesses. Try practicing with the clips at the range to get used to quick reloads. Just store them somewhere dry so they don't rust.

Are those octagonal spacers meant to act as cylinder shims for using shorter .38 Special rounds, or are they just for timing and cylinder alignment on your 327?
