New

The old 22-250 has served me well since the early ‘70’s. An old Remington 788 purchased used from Greentop. I think I paid 95$. Do t expect to find one today for that price!,

In new firearms, a Ruger Predator in .223 REM would be a good affordable option.
Savages are also accurate and affordable.
The Bergara B-14 is another good one.
.223 REM would be my suggested caliber of choice. For Virginia distances and affordability, it would be hard to beat.

I have a ,22 Hornet, a .220 swift, a couple of .22-250's, a .15 REM, a .204 Ruger and a .223.

The ,223 is older used bull barreled Savage 110 police tactical that I put a Timney trigger in that is very capable.

Savage.223(1).webp
